Two summonses were also taken under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1899, for
selling milk in the street without the name and address of seller being conspicuously inscribed
on the vehicle. Both were heard on January 23rd, and in one case a fine of 10s. was inflicted,
and in the other 2s. costs were obtained.
Wholesale dealers in Margarine.-—Two certificates of registration, under the provisions
of the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts, were issued during the year.
Section VI.—SANITARY ADMINISTRATION.
THE STAFF.
The names of the staff of the Public Health Department at the end of 1923 will
be found on pages 6 and 7.
The following changes occurred during the year:—
Dr. T. S. Higgins resigned his position as Medical Officer of Health—this took effect
on June 1st.
Dr. G. Sowden was appointed Medical Officer of Health on October 24th.
Dr. Stella Churchill was appointed Acting Medical Officer of Health until the new
appointment was made.
Dr. Donnelly, the Tuberculosis Officer, was appointed Honorary Consultant for
Tuberculosis to the Highgate Hospital on April 1st.
Mr. E. Winchester, Temporary Clerk, resigned and left in December.
Miss Gr. Anthony, Sanitary Inspector, resigned and left in March.
Miss J. A. J. Camman and Miss A. Holland. In accordance with requestof Ministry
of Health, one quarter of their remuneration was assigned to work performed
by them in connection with measles, as from April 1st.
Staff at Maternity and Child Welfare Centres.
Dr. C. H. A. Alderton was appointed Medical Officer, Berkeley Road Centre, on
January 31st.
Dr. M. Radford resigned on 25th April, and Dr. J. Finch Haines was appointed
on 28th April to fill the vacancy at the North St. Pancras Centre, Queen's
Crescent.
