Section VI.—SANITARY ADMINISTRATION.
THE STAFF.
The names of the staff of the Public Health Department at the end of 1922 will be found
on pages 5 and 6.
Dr. N. M. Donnelly was appointed as Tuberculosis Officer on 22nd February.
Dr. Stella Churchill was appointed as Assistant Medical Officer of Health for Maternity
and Child Welfare and for general purposes on 2nd August.
Mr. S. Barker, boy clerk, was appointed as junior clerk on 28th June.
The late Mr. F. G. Crick, who was acting as Milk Enquiry Officer (in connection with the
grants of milk to mothers and young children) was unable to attend to his duties from 13th October
owing to ill health, and Mr. H. G. West was appointed to act in his place from 14th December.
I regret to have to record that Mr. Crick died on 6th May, 1923.
I regret to have to record that Mr. E. Rogers, temporary clerk, died on 9th July, and
that Mr. C. Batter, temporary clerk, died on 11th December. Mr. J. H. Richards was transferred
to the department as temporary clerk on 23rd October.
In consequence of the prevalence of measles, Miss G. B. Steggles was re-engaged as temporary
health visitor on 16th March, and her place was taken on 3rd April by Miss E. M. Robinson,
who left on 20th May, owing to the cessation of the disease.
Miss S. A. Long was appointed on 22nd March as nurse at the Tuberculosis Dispensary,
39, Oakley Square, in place of Mrs. M. E. Baxter, resigned. The appointment of Miss E. C.
Ballard as Nurse at the Tuberculosis Dispensary at University College Hospital was approved
by the Council on 24th May.
Miss E. Boyd-Johnston, Superintendent of the Grafton Road Centre, resigned on account
of her approaching marriage, and left on 7th April. Miss E. L. May, Assistant Health Visitor
at St. Pancras School for Mothers, Ampthill Square, was promoted to her position on 26th April.
The vacancy thus caused at Ampthill Square was filled by transferring Mrs. S. C. Chapman from
the Argyle Square Centre, her place at Argyle Square being filled by Miss E. M. Robinson, who
was appointed as Assistant Health Visitor on 20th September.
Mrs. S. Kahan, Assistant Health Visitor at the Camden Town Centre, resigned on going
abroad, and left on 1st December.
