STAFF.
In the early part of the year the Public Health Committee re-arranged the
duties of the Inspectors. To the Special Inspector, Mr. Auger, was allotted a
District (known as the Town Hall District) in which to carry out all the duties
of a Food Inspector, a Workshop Inspector, a District Inspector, and a
Tenement House Inspector, and he was instructed to cease to carry out the
following duties outside the Town Hall District—investigating cases of smallpox
and contacts therewith, inquiring as to the notifications of Port Sanitary
Authorities and attending to special complaints, inspecting underground
bakehouses, offensive trade premises, rag and bone stores, fried fish shops,
effluvia business, and special mattors, and also inspecting disinfected rooms ;
he was further instructed to carry out all the duties of a Sanitary Inspector in
the Town Hall District, also to continue to supervise the work at the Disinfecting
Station and Personal Cleansing Station, which are situated in the
Town Hall District, also to have the duty of accompanying Inspectors in cases
where confirmation of a drain test is necessary.
The District Inspectors were instructed to write their own Diaries and
Indices instead of the Clerks writing them, to cease to write their notices and
continue to leave the Office by 10 o'clock except in special circumstances such
as having to make plans or reports, etc.
