A person who has been in contact with Small-pox should, as soon as possible,
undergo personal cleansing (including hair and nails) in a warm bath, and the
personal clothing should undergo disinfection or destruction. The Contact
Shelter is available for this purpose, and a certificate to the above effect will be
fiven to a Small-pox contact undergoing such cleansing and disinfection.
f, in addition, the certificate of the Public Vaccinator or any other medical
practitioner is obtained to the effect that the person has been efficiently
vaccinated or re-vaccinated, all practical precautions will have been taken
against the spread of the disease, and any occupation may be followed with
comparative safety. Such precautions having been taken an employer should
not find it necessary to suspend or discharge an employee.
The Contact Shelter is also available for a person in contact with any other
dangerous infectious disease, for instance, scarlet fever, and a certificate will be
given to any contact undergoing personal cleansing and disinfection.

Certificate of Personal Cleansing and Disinfecting at the Contact Shelter.
This is to Certify that (Sex)
aged of
who has been in contact with a person suffering from
(1), has undergone personal cleansing (including hair and nails) in a warm
bath at the Contact, Shelter, Cambridge Street, St. Pancras Gardens,
N.W., and
(2), that the personal clothing of the above has undergone disinfection or
destruction

After attending a Puerperal case a Midwife requires this additional
Certificate: —
This is also to certify that the hands of the above person have been specially
disinfected by soaking in methylated spirit and in solution of percliloride of
mercury (1 in 1,000), and that the instruments and appliances brought with her
have been sterilised or destroyed.
