Four summonses were taken under Section 47, Public Health (London) Act,
1891.
Cowsheds.—I paid 177 visits to the nine Licensed Cowsheds. Proceedings
were taken against a licensed cowkeeper for a breach of the Borough Council's
By-law, by failing to remove the manure at proper intervals, for which he was
fined £5, and 2s. costs.
In other respects the Regulations relating to Cowsheds have been complied
with; but although the carrying out of these Regulations was transferred to the
Borough Council by the London Government Act of 1899, the Officers of the
London County Council still inspect the cowsheds.
Milkshops and Dairies.—285 inspections were made of the milkshops and
dairies in my district.
Proceedings were taken against a purveyor of milk for allowing a milkshop
to be used for the purpose of sleeping, for which he was fined 10s. and 2s.
costs.
Sale of Food and Drugs Acts.—167 samples were taken under the above Acts
including 44 samples of milk, taken upon complaint, in course of delivery at
the Railway Stations.

No samples were taken under the Margarine Act. I append a summary showing the samples taken.
