The following were the total number of inspections and re-inspections made by Sanitary Inspectors during the year, as extracted from the detailed tables at the end of this report:—

Mr. Newlyn left in February and Mr. Dillon was transferred to his district
from the inspection of tenement houses, which duty he had been performing
since the 19th December, 1900, when he was appointed together with Mr.
Storer.
Mr. Walker was appointed on the 17th April, 1901, and inspected tenement
houses until, in November, he replaced Mr. Child, who was transferred to the
duties of inspecting food and food places.
Mr. May succeeded Mr. Weeden as Boy Clerk.
Mr. Auger was transferred in November to the duties of attending to smallpox
cases, supervising the strippers and cleansers, the disinfectors, the
temporary Sanitary Inspectors, the Tenement House Inspectors, and the
District Inspectors.
The inspections, amounting to nearly 2000, under the head of " other
duties" in the table below, were made in connection with various special
matters. Mr. Storer and Mr. Walker made some 870 in connection with an
enumeration of the persons and properties transferred to and from St. Pancras
in the adjustment of boundaries of the new Borough and adjacent Boroughs,
and some 340 in connection with artizans' dwellings. Mr. Dillon made some
2f>0 in connection with the housing schemes, housing accommodation, and sites.
Various Inspectors made some 150 special inspections in South St. Pancras
during the flooding in July, and some 160 as to water fittings for the Local
Government Board Inquiry into the proposed Regulations of the Water
