Sampling of Milk in transit.—From time to time opinions of regret have been
expressed, especially in the press, that samples of milk are not taken systematically
at railway stations. St. Pancras has within its borders the termini and depots of
the three great railway companies from the North, and milk is delivered at the
Euston Station of the London and North Western, at the King's Cross Station of
the Great Northern, and at the Phoenix Street, Kentish Town, and Haverstock
Hill Stations of the Midland Railway Company. On a day of twenty-four hours
in the third week in April, 1892, the number of churns delivered at these stations
was ascertained to be as follows:
L. & N. W. R. Euston 750
G. N. R. King's Cross 790
M. R. Phoenix Street 870
„ Kentish Town 210
„ Haverstock Hill 25
