TUBERCULAR DISEASES.
There were 642 deaths from the principal Tubercular
Diseases during the year, being 38 more than during the preceding
twelve months. In 1883 the proportion of deaths
from these diseases has been 137.2 in every 1,000 deaths
from "all causes," or 2.6 in every 1,000 of population. In
London the proportion has been 140.1 per 1,000 of total
deaths, or 2.8 in every 1,000 living.
The following table shows the relative mortality from these
diseases in the different districts. Fourteen deaths from
Tubercular diseases and 87 deaths from "all causes" are
excluded from consideration (vide Note page 3):—

WASTING & CONVULSIVE DISEASES OF INFANTS.
There were 274 deaths amongst children under one year
of age from the Wasting Diseases of children, or 35.4 to
every 1,000 of births and 249.1 to every 1,000 of total deaths
under one year.
