The following table shows the death rates from certain diseases in the different districts during 1883 :—

This year the Camden Town sub-registration district shows
a marked increase upon the death rates of the previous year
when calculated on deaths from "all causes," Pulmonary
diseases, and Zymotic diseases. Gray's Inn Lane shows a
marked diminution in the death rates from the same diseases.
Kentish Town has the lowest death rate of all the districts in
all diseases except Zymotic, in which Tottenham Court Road
is still lower. Somers Town also has a lower death rate than
last year.
When the death-rate among infants comes to be considered,
it is shown that when calculated upon the number of
registered births, the following results are obtained: —

Here Somers Town heads the list, and Gray's Inn Lane
follows as was the case in 1882. Kentish Town shows a much
lower death rate than the preceding year, that of Camden
Town has, however, increased.
