Zymotic Diseases.
There has been a marked decrease since the previous year
in the number of deaths from diseases of the zymotic class.
In 1881 the nine principal zymotic diseases caused 182.4
in every 1000 deaths from 'all causes' or 3.8 in every 1000 of
population ; during 1882, these proportions have been 154.1
and 3.0 respectively.
During the previous ten years the average proportions had
been 155.5 and 3.4. In London during 1882, these proportions
were, 163.4 and 3.4. St. Pancras has therefore during
1882 suffered proportionately to a less extent than the whole
of London.
The decrease in the number of deaths in 1882 upon that in
1881 will be found to have taken place in each of the
nine principal Zymotic diseases but whooping cough and
enteric fever, the amount of decrease will be shown when
each disease is considered.
The accompanying table shows the relative proportion of
deaths from these diseases in the different sub-registration
