RETURN, shewing the Works executed and Improvements effected in the Parish of Saint Pancras, under the supervision of the Sanitary Officers, during the year ending 31st December, 1868.

In addition to the above, various other works have been carried out to the number of 69,
the most important of which were for water laid on for domestic purposes, disinfecting, and
offensive animals removed.
The number of notices served in respeet of these works is 856; 762 primary, and 94 final;
The number of summonses and Magistrates' orders obtained to enforce the works is 73.
48 summonses, and 25 orders.
All Markets are visited at least three times in each week. The Slaughter-houses numbering
91, and Cow-houses 77, have each been inspected.
Bakehouses have each been visited half-yearly, but in future they will be visited every
three months. The day and hour is left to the discretion of Inspector.
All courts, public urinals, stables, wharves, mews, and premises occupied by marine
storedealers, fat melters, tripe dressers, sausage makers, fried fish shops, butchers' shops,
stalls for sale of meat, fish, vegetables, or fruit, are inspected from time to time.
The seizures of unsound food exposed for sale have been of Fish, 31½ pads, 2 parcels,
10½ barrels, 1 turn and 1 box of plaice, 1 box of dried herrings, 2 boxes of cod fish, 5 pads of
mixed fish, 14 boxes, 75 pads, 2 parcels and 3 trunks of mackerel, 1 basket of shrimps, 10
barrels, 2 boxes, and 3 pads of salt herrings, 4 barrels of dried haddocks, 1 trunk, 1½ boxes,
a part of a trunk and 105 pairs of soles, 1 barrel of crabs, 1½ basket of whelks, 1 of bream and
roach, 2 barrels and 2 bushels of sprats. Of Fruit, 2 bushels and a quantity of cherries,
1 barrel of apples and a quantity of apples, and 3 sieves of plums. Of Meat, 1 ham, 2 joints
of lamb, 2 legs, 2 breasts, 1 loin, 1 neck of lamb, 60 lbs. of pork, and 1 hare.
