Infant Mortality
There were 103 deaths of children under one year, with an
infant mortality rate of 23 per thousand live births. The infant
mortality rate for England and Wales was 17.

Maternal Mortality
One death occurred from accidents and diseases of pregnancy
or childbirth. This is equivalent to a rate of 0.22 per thousand
live and still births. The patient concerned was 30 years of age,
and the cause of death was a ruptured ectopic pregnancy with
internal haemorrhage.
