STAFF TRAINING
Public Health Inspectors and Technical Assistants
The Council provides facilities for public health inspectors and
technical assistants to undertake refresher courses and to attend
conferences and courses relevant to their work. In 1969 the
following courses were attended : : —
A fire prevention course under the Offices, Shops and Railway
Premises Act by three public health inspectors and three
technical assistants;
A course on noise prevention by three public health inspectors;
A modern drainage methods and materials course by one public
health inspector and three technical assistants ; and
A Housing Course by three technical assistants.
The Chief Public Health Inspector attended the Annual Conference
of the Association of Public Health Inspectors at
Eastbourne from 6th to 10th October, 1969.
In addition, the Disinfecting Station Superintendent attended a
Management Course.
Student Public Health Inspectors
Under the limits imposed by the Public Health Inspectors'
Education Board, six students are allowed to undertake training
within the department. They attend day release courses at the
South-East London Day College combined with a full programme
of visits and practical training with a qualified inspector.
Five students were in training in the department at the close of
the year.
