Chellow Dene — Residential Hostel
This hostel caters for adult, convalescent mentally-ill patients
of both sexes, most of whom have been discharged from hospital
but who are not ready to lead an independent life in the community.
During the year, 42 patients were admitted and 41 were
discharged ; as this is primarily a short-stay hostel, this is a satisfactory
turnover of patients but at the same time we have been
able to maintain the number of occupied places at a high level.
The following statistics show the disposal of the residents who
were discharged and the length of their stay in the hostel:—
Patients in residence on 1.1.66
Admissions during the year

During the year a very pleasant extra room was provided for the
residents and this is used for reading or for watching television
away from the general activities of the lounge or common room.
This additional facility has made a considerable contribution
towards increasing the comfort at Chellow Dene and has been
very much appreciated by the residents.
