TUBERCULOSIS
Notifications
The total number of new cases which came to the notice of
the Department during 1956 was 546 compared with 644 in 1955.
The sources of information regarding the 546 new cases were as follows:

Total | 546 |
Five hundred and forty-five cases were added to the notification
register during the year and 243 cases who had removed, recovered or
died, were taken off. The number remaining on the register at the end
of the year was 5,054.
Deaths
The number of deaths certified as due to various forms of tuberculosis
was 47.
