Report of the Medical Officer of Health for 1949.
Deaths.
The number of registered deaths which took place in the
Borough during the year was 3,666, but 1,368 of these did not
belong to the Borough, while 1,693 Borough residents died outside
the Borough.
The corrected number of deaths for the Borough, after allowing
for these factors, was 3,991 of whom 1.975 were males and
2,016 females.
The death-rate for the year was 11.92 per 1,000 persons
living, compared with 11.28 in 1948.
The death-rate for the whole of London for 1949 was 12.2
and for England and Wales 11.7.
Table II shows the total number of registered deaths and the
death-rates for each division and for the whole Borough.
