The percentage of children vaccinated to the total births was
51.8—in Clapham, 50.3; in Putney, 59.9; in Balham, 51.9;
in Streatham, 54.0; in Tooting, 33.5; in Southfield, 56.6; and
in Springfield, 51.5. This percentage is 0.2 lower than that
recorded last year.
Diphtheria.
479 cases occurred, compared with 386 in 1937, and 365 in
1936. The number of deaths was 15, compared with 20 in 1937,
23 in 1936, and 14 in 1935. The death-rate for 1938 was .04
and the case mortality was 3.1 per cent.
The rate per 1,000 of population was 1.40; 1.99 in
Clapham; .71 in Putney; 1.94 in Balham; .89 in Streatham;
1.33 in Tooting; and 1.28 in Wandsworth.
