102 Report of the Medical Officer of Health for 1937.
412 samples were taken from milk vendors in the street during
the early morning(midnight to 8 a.m.), and of these three or .72
per cent. were reported against.
The Milk (Special Designations) Order, 1936.
The following licences for the sale of designated milks were
granted during the year:—
Tuberculin Tested 44
Accredited 3
Pasteurised 45
Total 92
Bacteriological Examination of Milk.
41 samples of milk have been examined at the Lister Institute
of Preventive Medicine for the presence of Tubercle Bacilli and
all of them were reported to be free from the organism.
The following samples of Graded Milks procured from schools, hospitals or dairymen, were submitted to the Counties Public Laboratories for bacteriological examination in order to see if the bacterial content was within the prescribed standard for the appropriate grade.

All these samples complied with the required standards.
Butter and Margarine.
173 samples of butter were submitted for analysis during the
year. One sample contained .5% excess water, but the remaining
172 samples were reported to be genuine.
