Infective Diseases.
In addition to the above 124 other cases were reported to
me. These cases were treated at the Council's disinfecting
station with sulphurated potash baths, and in every case the
disease was cured. The average number of baths given per case
was three.
In 170 cases where consent was obtained, disinfection of the
bedding and clothing of the patient was carried out by the disinfecting
staff.
Cleansing of Persons Act.
The names of 28 children stated to be in a verminous
condition, were forwarded to me by the Medical Officer, Education
Department, London County Council, and the homes were
visited by the Inspectors. In 15 cases the clothing and bedding
was also verminous and this was disinfected.
These children were cleansed by the officials of the London
County Council at the Cleansing Station under the supervision
of that Authority.
Disinfection.
The total number of rooms disinfected after the occurrence
of cases of infective diseases was 1,945:—370 in Clapham,
196 in Putney, 319 in Balham, 321 in Streatham, 186 in Tooting,
and 553 in Wandsworth.
Three private elementary schools were also disinfected for
infective diseases.
Ambulance Service.
The London County Council has been responsible for the
removal by ambulance of cases of infective diseases to hospitals
since April, 1930. They also provide ambulances for persons
meeting with accidents, and for parturient women. These services
are free. Ambulances are also provided by the same Authority
for the conveyance of other cases on payment.
