FOOD AND FOOD PREMISES.
The whole of the work in connection with Food and the
inspection of Food Premises is now carried out by three inspectors.
Mr. T. Newell was appointed in May, 1925, Chief Inspector of the
Food and Drugs Department, and he is responsible for all the
work in connection with the taking of samples and other duties
under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts. He also supervises the
work of the other two inspectors, each of whom is responsible for
the inspection of food premises in one-half of the Borough. The
third inspector was appointed in 1925 as an Assistant Sanitary
Inspector, owing to the extra duties involved when the Public
Health (Meat) Regulations came into force.
The following Table gives the number of food premises and
slaughter-houses in the Borough, and shows the number of inspections
made, the notices served and prosecutions taken.
