Report of the Medical Officer of Health. 93
ANNUAL STATEMENT
Of the work done in the Borough of Wandsworth under the
Sale of Food and Drugs Acts.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the Wandsworth
Borough Council.
Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
In presenting our annual report on samples submitted under
the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts during the year 1923, we should
like to draw your attention to its highly satisfactory nature. In
all, 2,000 samples were examined, and in only 112 cases were
unsatisfactory results obtained. This gives a total adulteration
of only 5.6 per cent. A further cause for congratulation is to
be found in the fact that only 36 out of a total of 999 milks and
separated milks were adversely reported upon: that is to say,
slightly less than 3.6 per cent, were adulterated.
That inspection of food in your Borough is very efficiently
carried out is amply proved when you consider that in all no less
than 62 distinct varieties of food and drugs were submitted by
your food inspector, the nature of which will be found in the tables
following.
