114 of the cases were removed to hospital.
1,086 visits were made by the Sanitary Inspectors and Health
Visitors to houses where cases of Whooping Cough occurred, and
228 premises were disinfected.
Influenza.
56 deaths occurred, compared with 148 in 1922.
The death-rate was .16 per 1,000. The number of deaths
represents 1.6 per cent, of the total mortality from all causes,
compared with 3.9 per cent, in 1922, 2.3 per cent, in 1921, 2.2 per
cent, in 1920, 8.2 percent, in 1919.
Influenzal Pneumonia and Acute Primary Pneumonia.
39 cases of acute influenzal pneumonia and 389 cases of acute
primary pneumonia were notified. 33 of the former and 79 of the
latter died.
The total number of deaths credited to all forms of pneumonia
during the year was 189, compared with 236 in 1922, 241 in 1921,
and 227 in 1920.
Cerebro-spinal Meningitis.
Seven cases of this disease occurred and one of them died. A
further nine deaths were registered as being caused by meningitis.
Polio-myelitis and Polio-encephalitis.
18 cases occurred and four of them died.
Enquiries are now being made into the cases of this disease
which have been notified during the last few years, but these are
not yet completed.
Encephalitis Lethargica.
Six cases of this disease occurred and three of them died.
Several other cases were notified, but as they were found, after
further investigation, to be suffering from some other disease they
are not included in these figures.
