16 Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
It is satisfactory to note that the Infantile Mortality was only
60 per 1,000 births, and was the lowest ever recorded in the Borough.
This low mortality was largely due to the low number of deaths
from Diarrhoea and Enteritis, from which causes there were only
19 deaths of infants, compared with 81 in the previous year.
The Infantile Mortality among legitimate infants was 59 per
1,000 legitimate births, and among illegitimate infants 111 per
1,000 illegitimate births, or nearly twice as great.
INFECTIVE DISEASES MORTALITY.
The next Table shows the number of deaths from these diseases
during the year and for the 10 previous years. The corrected
decennial average is also shown.
