the year, as well as other information which it has been thought
advisable to group together for the purpose of comparison with
other Metropolitan Boroughs.

Unsound Food.
Three boxes of herrings, one box of haddock roes, one box of
cod, one box of chats, two boxes of haddocks, 21 rabbits, five hams,
13 bags of potatoes, 99J lbs. cheese, one bag of winkles, and 616
pounds of beef were destroyed at the request of the owners and the
usual certificates granted.
Proceedings were taken in one instance for exposing unsound
meat for sale, but the summons was dismissed by the Magistrate.
FACTORIES AND WORKSHOPS.
There has been a decrease in the total number of inspections
of the above, compared with 1916, but an examination of the Tables
will show that a very large amount of work has been carried out
by both the male and female inspectors.
