REPORT
of the Medical Officer of Health
for the Year 1917.
To the Mayor, Aldermen, and Councillors of the
Metropolitan Borough of Wandsworth.
Sir and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present the Annual Report on the health
and sanitary condition of the Borough for the year 1917.
Population.
The civil population of the Borough to the middle of 1917
has been estimated by the Registrar General to be 300,787 for
the purpose of calculating death rates and 335,292 for birth-rates.
An enumeration of the sugar cards issued showed the population
to be 320,000.
Table I. shows the population of each sub-district based on
the above estimation of the Registrar General compared with the
Census population.
