Towards the latter part of the year the Army Medical Boards
commenced to send recruits for examination. 156 cases were
examined, and in each instance sputum examinations were made,
86 being found to be tuberculous. In each case a report was
sent to the Medical Board. The cases sent for examination were,
of course, only possible or probable cases of tuberculosis.
