"The sanitary defects found in the houses during our visits
to the mothers have been remedied, or if requiring structural work,
referred to you. 65 intimation notices were served and three
statutory notices were required.

The total number of deaths among those visited was 134,
22 in Clapham, four in Putney, 26 in Streatham, 29 in Tooting, and
53 in Wandsworth. The heaviest mortality occurred at two to
three months.
The mortality among the infants visited by the Inspectors
was only 37 per 1,000 births, compared with 89 per 1,000, the rate
for the Borough for the year.
In accordance with the scheme for attending the visiting
of children up to the age of five years, 684 children between the ages
of 1 to 2 years and 2,964 between the ages of 2 and 5 years were
seen by us.
