Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
The death-rate in England and Wales in 1915 was 14.8 per
1,000, compared with 137 in 1914, 137 in 1913, and 13-3 in 1912;
in the 96 Great Towns 15.9 compared with 15.6 in 1914, 14.3 in
1913, and 13.8 in 1912; and in the 148 Smaller Towns 14.2 compared
with 13.1, 12.8 and 12.4.
If a comparison is to be made with other places it is necessary
to again correct the corrected rate, viz.:—12.62, for age and sex
distribution, which gives a rate for this Borough for the year 1915
of 12.67 per 1,000, compared with 11.24 in 1914, 10-99 in 1913, and
11.03 1912.
The following Table shows the factor for correction, the crude
death-rate, the corrected death-rate; and the comparative mortality
figure for London and for the 29 Boroughs, including the City of
London, for the year 1915.
