In 213 out of 855 examinations for the bacillus of Diphtheria
the result was positive, and in 15 out of 34 examinations of blood in
suspected cases of Enteric Fever the Widal re-action was obtained.
The increase in the total number was due to the greater prevalence
of Diphtheria during the year, and the consequent increase in the
number of contacts swabbed.
Puerperal Fever.
30 cases of Puerperal Fever were notified, compared with 32 in
1913, 27 in 1912, 24 in 1911.
Six cases occurred in Clapham, six in Streatham, four in
Tooting, and 15 in Wandsworth.
Nine of the cases (four in Clapham, two in Streatham, one in
Tooting, and two in Wandsworth), or 30 per cent, were fatal,
compared with 40 per cent, in 1913, 40 per cent, in 1912, and 33.3
per cent, in 1911,
