Inspection of Premises where Food is prepared for
Sale or Sold.
During the year 200 inspections have been made of fried fish
shops, 450 of butchers' shops, 577 of greengrocers' shops, and 338
of fishmongers' shops, a total of 1,565.
249 of these inspections were in Clapham, 353 in Putney,
342 in Streatham, 135 in Tooting, and 486 in Wandsworth.
Police Court Proceedings.
The list which follows shows particulars of Police Court proceedings
under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, during
the year.
The total amount of fines inflicted was £32 13s. 0d., and the
costs £2 12s. od., compared with £15 15s. od. and £3 18s. 6d. in 1913.
The majority of the cases were with respect to nuisances or
contraventions of By-laws, while one was for exposing unsound
food for sale, one for the removal of offensive matter during prohibited
hours, and one for selling ice cream from a barrow on
which the vendor's name and address was not inscribed.
