The total number of intimation notices served was 5,897,
compared with 6,305 in 1913, 6,620 in 1912, and 6,278 in 1911, and
of statutory notices 406, compared with 540, 707, and 957.
The greatest number of intimation notices was served in
Streatham, Balham and Springfield Wards, and the smallest number
in Southfield and Putney Wards. The greatest number of statutory
notices was served in Balham and Springfield Wards and the
smallest number in Putney and Tooting Wards.
Only 32 of the statutory notices, six in Clapham, two in
Putney, 18 in Streatham, and six in Wandsworth, served in 1914,
were not complied with at the close of the year.
29 of these notices were complied with in the beginning of
the current year, with regard to one the premises are unoccupied,
while in one the work is in hand, and in one a closing order has been
obtained.
The number of statutory notices served include By-law notices,
131 of which were served in respect of the following contraventions
of the By-laws :—Yard paving 23, repairs to water closets 13,
repairs to flushing apparatus of water closets 20, cleansing of water
closets one, covers to cisterns six, cleansing cisterns eight, cleansing
house and other contraventions of the By-laws as to houses let in
lodgings 53, absence of cover to manure receptacle three, and failing
to deposit manure in a proper receptacle four.
The number of cases of overcrowding dealt with during the
year was 81, compared with 75 in 1913, 76 in 1912, and 91 in 1911.
11 of these were in Clapham, two in Putney, 19 in Streatham, six
in Tooting, and 43 in Wandsworth.
The cases of overcrowding in Clapham were in Rashleigh
Street, Crichton Street, Nursery Street, Nelson's Row, Upper
Orchard Street, Park Crescent, Carfax Square and Clapham Park
Road ; in Putney in Floss Street ; in Streatham, in Nimrod Road,
Fallsbrook Road, Roupell Buildings, Greyhound Square, Mill Lane,
Zennor Road, Larch Road, Fernlea Road, Balham New Road,
Hazelhurst Road and Hereward Road ; in Tooting, in Khartoum
