51 out of a total of 66 deaths from Diarrhoea, and 37 out of
a total of 70 from Enteritis occurred in the third quarter of the year.
The number of deaths from Diarrhoea, Zymotic Enteritis, and
Enteritis under one year represents 23.3 per cent. of the total
mortality at that age, compared with 21.8 per cent. in 1913, 11.6
per cent. in 1912, and 33 per cent. in 1911, so that the increase of
the mortality under one year was largely due to the increase in the
number of deaths of infants from the above causes.
In all the deaths under one year from Diarrhœa and Enteritis,
special inquiries were made, and the following Tables show the
nature of the food given,
