The following Table shows the percentage of illegitimate births to total births for each sub-district and for the whole Borough for the year, and for the three previous years:—

Notification of Births Act.
During the year 4,738 births were notified, 928 from Clapham,
335 from Putney, 1,003 from Streatham, 569 from Tooting, and
1,903 from Wandsworth.
140 births were notified from the Workhouse, of which 89
belonged to this Borough, and 51 to other places. Of the 89
which belonged to this Borough, the home addresses of seven were
in Clapham, of 12 in Putney, of 25 in Streatham, of 14 in Tooting,
and of 31 in Wandsworth.
The following Table shows the number of births notified in each
sub-district and in the whole Borough, the persons by whom
notified and whether the children were born alive or dead.
