Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
In all, 128 lists were received twice in the year, containing
the names and addresses of 59 contractors and 357 workmen and
two lists once in the year, containing the names and addresses of
no contractors and four workmen. There has been a slight increase
in the number of outVorkers employed by employers in the Borough
during the year.
The total number of addresses received from other Councils
was 521, compared with 511 in 1912, 408 in 1911, and 422 in 1910,
and 276 addresses were forwarded to other Councils, compared
with 285 in 1912, 251 in 1911, and 253 in 1910. The number
of addresses received has increased by 10 and the number sent has
decreased by nine.
The following are the districts to which lists of outworkers
were forwarded, and also the number of outworkers:—Battersea
64, Lambeth 48, Stepney 41, Fulham 21, Croydon 17, City 16,
Hammersmith 10, Southwark eight, Camberwell six, Bermondsey,
Chelsea and Winchester four each, Stratford, Holborn, Eastleigh,
Hanwell, East Ham, Wimbledon, Willesden, Worthing, Finsbury,
Lewisham, Shoreditch, Poplar and Rochford two each, Westminster,
Islington, Greenwich, St. Marylebone, Deptford, West Ham and
Southgate one each.
43 names and addresses were forwarded to this Borough in
error, and are not included in the above Table.
The number of notices sent to employers during the year was
76, compared with 76 in 1912, and these had a most satisfactory
result.
At the end of 1912 there were 335 outworkers' premises on
the Register, 67 were added and 41 removed during the year,
leaving 361 on the Reigster at the end of 1913.
465 inspections were made of these premises during the year,
and 34 notices, all for cleansing, were served and complied with.
