The total number of workplaces on the Register was 1,229
and 1,660 inspections were made, while 133 intimation notices were
served, but only one statutory notice was necessary.
The total number of defects found was 539, including 16 cases
in which there was a breach of special sanitary requirements for
bakehouses, compared with 462 and nine in 1912.
To abate these nuisances, 420 notices, 401 intimation and 19
statutory were served, all of which, with the exception of five were
complied with at the end of the year. The five outstanding were
complied with in the first month of this year.
Excluding outworkers' premises 539 defects were found and
534 remedied, but only 401 intimation notices were served, as one
notice frequently called attention to several defects on the same
premises.
