Births.
During the 53 weeks ending the 3rd January, 1914, 6,838
births, 3,534 of males and 3,304 of females, were registered, compared
with 6,756 in 1912, 6,699 in 1911. and 6,967 in 1910.
The total number of births registered in this Borough was
6,679, but 207 births occurred in Institutions outside the Borough
of persons belonging to the Borough, and 48 births in Institutions
in the Borough of persons not belonging to the Borough, making a
corrected total of 6,838.
Of the 207 births which were registered outside the Borough,
74 occurred in Clapham Maternity, 23 in the General Lying-in
Hospital, 11 in Queen Charlotte's Hospital, 18 in St. Thomas's
Hospital, three in City of London Lying-in Hospital, one in Middlesex
Hospital, one in the British Lying-in Hospital, 17 in Poor
Law Infirmaries, six in private nursing homes, and 53 in other
places.
In Table VIII. is shown the number of births, males and females,
the birth-rate, and the rate of natural increase for each sub-district,
and for the whole Borough.
