Report of the Medical Officer of Health. 7
Table V. shows the proportion per 1,000 persons living under
various conditions of room occupation.
In the County of London, in tenements of less than 10 rooms,
206 per 1,000 persons lived under conditions of less than one person
per room, while in Wandsworth this was 362 per 1,000. From one
to two persons per room inclusive the number of persons in London
was 554 per 1,000, and in Wandsworth 494 per 1,000, while the
proportion having more than two persons per room was in London
1,777 per 1,000 and in Wandsworth 62 per 1,000. Compared with
the other Metropolitan Boroughs, Wandsworth was second highest
having less than one person per room, the highest being Lewisham,
from one to two persons per room Wandsworth was ninth, while
more than two persons per room Wandsworth was second lowest,
Lewisham being lowest.
The Table also shows that as far as housing accommodation
per person is concerned Wandsworth occupies a most favourable
position among the other Metropolitan Boroughs.
