157 samples of milk have been taken on Sundays either in the
early morning or at mid-day. 17, or 10 per cent. were reported
against as being adulterated.
Proceedings were taken against 11 of the vendors with the
result that convictions were obtained in each case.
310 samples of milk were procured during the early mornings
on week days. Of these 36 or 11.2 per cent. were found to be
adulterated.
Proceedings were taken in 21 cases and convictions obtained.
In five cases proceedings were taken against the vendors for
selling milk from a receptacle upon which their name and address
were not conspicuously inscribed. Four of these were convicted,
while one absconded before service of summons.
I am pleased to report that in no case during the year has
the inspector been obstructed in the course of his duty and no
"refusal to sell" a sample for analysis has taken place.
