Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
On the whole the By-laws have been satisfactorily complied
with, although in some instances the cleansing was not carried out
at the specified time.
The question of making an alteration in the present By-laws
so as to conform with the Housing, Town Planning, etc., Act, 1909,
has been carefully considered by the Council, but it was not
considered necessary to make any alteration at present as the
Solicitor was of opinion that the By-laws were in compliance with
that Act.
Offensive Trade Refuse.
The arrangements which have been made by the Council with
a contractor for the removal of this refuse have during the year
worked quite satisfactorily, and no complaints have been received.
In a certain number of cases this refuse is removed privately, and
this has also been carried out ir a satisfactory manner.
Unsound Food.
During the year two trunks of Soles, one box of Hake, one box
of Whiting, one box of Herrings, one box of Skate, one trunk of
Mackerel, 250 Eggs, two barrels of Apples, four trays of Pears,
two baskets of Mushrooms, and one bag of Walnuts, were destroyed
at the request of the owners, and the usual certificates granted.
Factories and Workshops.
Although there has been a decrease in the total number of
inspections of the above, compared with 1910, yet an examination
of the Tables will show that a very large amount of work has been
done.
