To Archibald Davis Dawnay, Esq , J.P.
We, the Aldermen and Councillors of the Metropolitan Borough ot
Wandsworth, desire to convey to you our thanks for the valuable services you
have rendered to the Borough as Mayor and as a Justice of the Peace during
your second year of office. 4
This period was notable owing to the lamented death of our late
Sovereign King Edward VII., and it became your duty to proclaim at
Wandsworth the accession of His present Majesty King George V. In the
various functions and ceremonies arising out of these events you represented
this Borough most worthily and with befitting dignity.
You have extended your philanthropy, as in your previous year of
office, to all parts and classes of the Borough, and we heartily thank you for
this and for the hospitality which you have dispensed on so many occasions.
Our thanks are also due to the Mayoress for the gracious manner in
which she has so readily taken part in the discharge of the numerous social
and public duties appertaining to the office.
It is with great gratification that we learn that you have consented to
be nominated for the third time in succes-ion. The coming year will be
distinguished as the Coronation Year of Their Majesties King George V. and
Queen Mary, when your experience of the office will be of the utmost value,
and we sincerely wish you health and strength to carry out successfully the
arduous duties which will devolve upon the Mayor of this large and
populous Borough.
