REPORT OF THE WANDSWORTH
DISTRESS COMMITTEE.
From the 1st July, 1910, to 30th June, 1911.
The Distress Committee was appointed by the Borough
Council on the nth October, 1905, in accordance
with the Unemployed Workmen Act (1905), and
constituted as follows:—

Members of the Board of Guardians 8
Persons experienced in the relief of distress 5
Members of the Council:—Aldermen Cresswell, Hewett,
Lorden, Penfold, and Robinson; Councillors Anderson,
Couzens, Denny, Everett, Jackson, Plumridge
and Prince.
Members of
Committee.
Members of the Board of Guardians:—Rev. J. Cooney, Mr.
G. J. Fowle, Mr. W. P. Melhuish, Mr. E. A. Miller, m.b., Mr.
Percival Rees (Chairman), Lieut. E. A. Sanders, r.n., and Mr.
A. Sullivan (one vacancy).
Members experienced in the relief of distress, appointed for
one year:—Rev. D. Tudor Craig, Mr. F. Nash, and Miss M. H.
Pollock (two vacancies).
A Sub-Committee of twelve members was formed, constituted
as follows:—Mr. Percival Rees (Chairman); Alderman
Cresswell, Councillors Couzens, Denny, and
Jackson, Lieut. Sanders, r.n., Rev. J. Cooney, Mr. G. J. Fowle,
Miss M. H. Pollock (three vacancies), and the Chairman and
Members of the Central Body ex officio: the duties being to
enquire and report as to condition of labour, to consider and
classify the Record Papers when completed.
