Appendix " B."
General Report on Testings of Gas supplied to the Wandsworth
Borough Council (1) by the Wandsworth and
Putney Gas Company; (2) by the Mitcham and Wimbledon
Gas Company for the year ended 31st March, 1911.
Wandsworth and Putney Gas Company.
I have made the usual bi-weekly tests of this gas during the
year ended 31st March, 1911, as regards Illuminating Power,
Sulphuretted Hydrogen, Sulphur (other than sulphuretted hydrogen)
and Pressure.
In Table I. will be seen a summary of the monthly averages of
these tests, while in Table III. are shewn curves representing the
fluctuations of the Illuminating Power and of the Sulphur based
on the weekly averages of these tests.
By reference to Table I. it will be noted that the average
illuminating Illuminating Power for the year ended 31st March,
1911, is 14.6 candles, a somewhat lower average
than has hitherto obtained. In January, 1911, the maximum
monthly average of 15.0 candles was reached, while April, May,
June and September, 1910, and February and March, 1911, shew
the minimum monthly average of 14.5. Hence while the average
is somewhat lower as a whole, there has been considerable uniformity
in the Illuminating Power.
By reference to Table III., shewing the curve based 011 the
weekly averages of the Illuminating Power, it will be seen that these
have varied between a minimum of 14.1 (November, 1910) and a
maximum of 15.5 (January, 1911).
