In the second place the reduction was caused by the better
sanitary condition of yards in rear of houses, and the greater
attention paid to the removal of deposits from these yards, as well
as to the improvement in dust-bin arrangements and the removal
of house refuse.
Last but not least a considerable amount of the reduction has.
been due to the work of the female inspectors, the educational
value of whose visits cannot be over estimated.
Some of the results of their work is shown later on in this
Report, but it is impossible to give statistics of the educational!
value of the work which I am satisfied has been very great.
