41. This Council suggested an amendment of the provisions
relating to the division of samples of milk, and that Medical
Officers of Health of Sanitary Authorities should have power to
require information as to the dairy in which milk is produced, as
well as the Medical Officer of the County Council. This Council
approved of the provisions as to the storage of food, and decided
to take no action with regard to the other provisions of the Bill.
42. After correspondence with the County Council this
Council decided not to oppose the Bill. Part III. was eventually
struck out of the Bill, which, as amended, received the Royal
Assent on the 16th August, 1909.
43. This Bill proposed to authorize the London United Tramways
Company to run over and use with their cars
tramways of the County Council, and the County
Council to use tramways of the London United Tramways Company
upon such terms as, failing agreement, may be determined
by arbitration, and to require the County Council within six
months from the passing of the Bill to exercise its powers under
the Act of 1903 for the construction of a tramway from the County
boundary at Wimbledon Road to Garratt Lane, failing which
those powers were to be transferred to the Company. This
Council petitioned against the Bill, which was rejected by a Committee
of the House of Commons on the 14th May.

shall also be empowered to purchase all the electric lighting
undertakings in the County not purchaseable by a Local Authority.
