Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
Wandsworth). Of these 16, seven occurred in Out-lying Institutions,
and four of these were not known at the addresses given.
The parents of the other nine had removed and could not be traced.
Four of the deaths were of twin children, and one was the
eldest of triplets.
The next Table shows the result of the enquiries made after
these deaths, arranged in Wards, and there is also shown the
number of infants who had been previously visited, the number of
illegitimate infants, and the social status of the parents.
It is interesting to note that only eight of the infants who
died from Diarrhoea had been fed in accordance with the instructions
given in the pamphlet left by the Inspectors, and also that
of the total number visited, viz. :—99, the large number of 41 were
either children born prematurely or who had been delicate from
birth.
