Table XLV. shows the number of cases of Measles and other
non-notifiable diseases notified by the teachers in the elementary
schools in the Borough.
In all 3,753 cases were notified, compared with 4,079 in 1907,
3,810 in 1906, and 3,352 in 1905.
1,756 of these were cases of Measles, 608 of Chicken-pox, 612
of Whooping- Cough, 222 of Mumps, and 555 of Ringworm.
There was an increase in the number of cases of Measles and
Ringworm, compared with 1907, but a decrease in the number of
cases of Mumps, Chicken-pox, and Whooping Cough.
With regard to Measles, 393 cases were notified from schools
in Clapham, 15 in Putney, 532 in Streatham, 188 in Tooting, and
629 in Wandsworth.
The schools chiefly affected were : in Clapham, Cavendish
Road, Larkhall Lane, and New Park Road; in Putney the
maximum number notified was only five in Deodar Road and St.
Mary's ; in Streatham, Oldridge Road, Eardley Road, and Hearnville
Road; in Tooting, Sellincourt Road and Tooting Graveney;
and in Wandsworth, Southfields, Earlsfield, Swaffield Road, and
the Wandle Schools.
