5. The Council regret to record the deaths on the 13th
October, 1908, of Alderman Rucker: on the 10th
Obituary.
February, 1909, of Councillor Palmer; on the 8th
March, 1909, of Councillor Law; on the 19th February, 1909, of
Mr. T. P. Ling; and on the 7th March, 1909, of Mr. J. Y. Henderson.
Alderman Rucker had been a Member of the Council since
its establishment in 1900. He was a regular attendant at Council
and Committee Meetings; an active and generous supporter of
philanthropic and other public institutions, and the valuable services
which he rendered to the Borough for so many years are
highly appreciated. Councillor Palmer had also been a Member
of the Council since 1900, and regularly attended the Council and
Committee Meetings. Councillor Law had been a Member of the
Council since November, 1906. Mr. T. P. Ling was a Member
from 1900 to 1906; and Mr. J. Y. Henderson from December, 1900,
to November, 1903.
6. On the 2nd December the Council elected Councillor J. H.
Election of Anderson, M.A., an Alderman of the Borough, to
Alderman fill the vacancy caused by the death of Alderman
Rucker.
7. An election to fill the vacancy caused by the election of
Casual Councillor Anderson as Alderman was held on the
Vacancy. 29th January, when the votes recorded were as
follows, viz. :—
