155 births occurred in the Workhouse, nine of these belonging
to Clapham, six to Putney, 23 to Streatham, 10 to Tooting,
38 to Wandsworth, 63 to Battersea, and six to other places.
Of these 155 births 93 were illegitimate, and of these four
belonged to Clapham, six to Putney, 17 to Streatham, six to
Tooting, 15 to Wandsworth, 41 to Battersea, and four to other
places.
In the Borough, with the exception of the Workhouse, 129
illegitimate births were registered, 30 in Clapham, 13 in Putney,
23 in Streatham, 25 in Tooting, and 38 in Wandsworth.
One illegitimate birth occurred in the Middlesex County
Lunatic Asylum.
The total number of illegitimate births was 177, 34 of which
belonged to Clapham, 19 to Putney, 40 to Streatham, 31 to
Tooting, and 53 to Wandsworth, compared with 189 in 1907, 203
in 1906, and 165 in 1905.
The percentage of illegitimate births to total births was 2.41,
compared with 2.68 in 1907, 2.87 in 1906, 2.4 in 1905, and 3.7 for
the whole of London for 1907.
