To correctly compare the rates for the year 1908 with previous
years, it is necessary to make a correction for the additional
week in the registration year, and the rates would then be,
Clapham 19.80, Putney 17.67, Streatham 18.36, Tooting- 33.65,
Wandsworth 24.36, and for the whole Borough 21.80.
In Clapham, Streatham and Wandsworth the rates were
lower than in 1907, while the rate for the whole Borough was .17
per 1,000 lower, and was the lowest yet recorded.
The lowest birth-rate was in Putney, where it was only 17.67,
and the highest in Tooting, viz.:—33.65.
