REPORT OF BOROUGH ENGINEER AND
SURVEYOR.
MILEAGE OF ROADS.
The total length of roads repaired by the Council is now 183 miles,
7 furlongs, 143 yards.
This does not include 10 miles, 4 furlongs, 153 yards of public
ways, which are used as footpaths only.

SEWERS.

During the past year the following lengths of sewers, &c., have been constructed in the Borough:—

The defective 12-inch pipe sewer between Danmere Street and
the Embankment has been taken up and relaid. The
work was carried out under contract by Mr. J. E.
Etheridge at a cost of £138 4s.
Ashlone
Road.
The ditch at the rear of No. 39 has been filled in and piped with
12-inch pipes at a cost of £12 7s. 7d.
Tooting High
Street.
The dead end of the 9-inch pipe sewer opposite No. 204 has been
connected to the manhole opposite Ravenna Road at
a cost of £19 12s. 4a.
Upper Bichmond
Road.
SEWER VENTILATION.
Sewer ventilating shafts have been fixed against sides of houses
and columns erected during the year, in lieu of surface ventilators
in the roads which in all cases have been hermetically sealed.
